The D-Day landing on the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944 was the largest amphibious and airborne operation of all time. Today, millions of visitors still come to pay homage to the soldiers who liberated France. Many museums offer you to understand how these operations were carried out and under what conditions. A masterpiece of Romanesque art, the Bayeux Tapestry is listed in the Unesco Memory of the World Register. Embroidered in the 11th century, it unfolds in one piece over 70 m long and 50 cm high. Illustrated narrative of the conquest of England in 1066 by the Duke of Normandy, William the Conqueror, it is a unique document on life in Europe in the Middle Ages.

A must for your visit in Normandy, only 1h30 from Le Clos Poulain. The Mont Saint Michel is the most emblematic medieval monument of our region.

Miraculously spared during the Normandy landings, old Bayeux offers a remarkable architectural ensemble. From the creation of Bayeux to General de Gaulle's speech, anecdotes, heritage and curiosities retrace 2000 years of an exceptional history. 

A jewel of Norman architecture, Notre-Dame Cathedral was dedicated on July 14, 1077 by Bishop Odon of Conteville in the presence of his illustrious brother, William the Conqueror, Duke of Normandy and King of England. It is said that it was to decorate the nave of the cathedral that Odon had the Bayeux Tapestry embroidered, a masterpiece of the Middle Ages.

You can also find all these typically Norman products on the stalls of our markets. In Bayeux, there are two weekly markets, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, as well as a Thursday evening craft market in front of the town hall in the summer. Not to mention the many organic fruit and vegetable producers, breeders, cheese makers around us... Everything is within reach of a fork! 

For a weekend or a vacation in Normandy, head for the sea! You have the choice between beaches designed for families, long sandy beaches, walking along the beach, swimming and feeling in your element (in water that is not as cold as it seems!), or sunbathing, without worrying about anything except the index of your sun cream...! Caressing the warm sand, building sand castles or having fun throwing small pebbles as far as possible in the water... Small pleasures that we all appreciate!

Sand yachting, THE water sport for the general public: in a few minutes, you too will be able to master the wind and travel the beach at full speed.

The sea is low? Then don't wait, breathe in the sea air on a sand yacht! All year round, you can use the wind as your ally to ride the fine sand as far as the eye can see. I promise, it will change your mind!
